Lucknow, 30 November: In response to a question in the Assembly related to backward class welfare, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the department, Narendra Kashyap said that scholarships have been given to more than 15 lakh backward class students in the state.
In the financial year 2022-2023, 23,44,689 applications from Other Backward Classes were received under the Post-Death Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Scheme. Scholarships have been awarded to 15,96,455 students against the applications received.
The Minister said that against the budget provision of Rs 1450 crore for the financial year 2022-23, a budget provision of Rs 1850 crore has been made in the current financial year 2023-24.

In a written reply to a question, Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Aseem Arun said that students of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and General Category studying in all recognized and affiliated educational institutions within the state and government and aided educational institutions outside the state Fee reimbursement is being provided as per the rules and regulations.
Fee reimbursement has been provided to 36607 Scheduled Caste students pending for the financial year 2022-23.
Online applications are being made by students studying in the financial year 2023-24, eligible and students with correct data will be provided funds in March 2024.
