Lucknow, 06 November: Uttar Pradesh’s Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested two terrorists from different areas in Aligarh. These people are two self-radicalized terrorists associated with ISIS and on the instructions of their handlers, they were planning to carry out a major terrorist incident in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

ATS Additional Director General of Police Mohit Aggarwal said that the arrested alleged terrorists Abdul Arslan and Maaz Bin Tariq live in different areas of Aligarh. Electronic devices, pen drives filled with terrorist literature and propaganda have been recovered from them. Apart from this, many groups supporting anti-national terrorist ideology were exposed, with which these people used to exchange banned literature.

According to Aggarwal, both of them, inspired by terrorist ideology, had also taken the oath of allegiance to ISIS and were hatching an anti-national conspiracy to establish the caliphate. On the instructions of the handlers, these people were engaged in creating an army of terrorist jihad by joining people with similar ideologies. Also, they were working on a plan to carry out some major incident in Uttar Pradesh.

The ADG said that after in-depth investigation of the case, it was found that the accused Shahnawaz and Rizwan, previously arrested in the cases registered in Mumbai, have links with some students associated with the Students’ Union of Aligarh Muslim University (SAMU).

He added that the UP ATS had registered a case in this connection on November 3. Both of them will be presented before the court and their remand will be sought for questioning. After the arrest of these terrorists, vigilance has been increased in UP.
