UP cabinet gives nod to new district jail in Hathras

Lucknow, July 11: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet authorised the building of a new district jail in Hathras district on Tuesday, according to an official statement published here.

The new jail would contain 1,026 inmates; the cabinet agreed following a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to the announcement, the cabinet has approved administrative sanction for Rs 18,494.29 lakh for this project.

The cabinet also accepted a proposal to free of charge transfer 0.781 hectares of land selected for the building of a district prison in Kushinagar district to the prison department, according to the statement.
