UP Cabinet nod to open 57 cyber crime police stations

Lucknow, 19 Dec: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet authorised the establishment of 57 cyber crime police stations in the state on Tuesday.

Suresh Khanna, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, informed reporters that a decision in this respect was made during the cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to Khanna, the cabinet approved the establishment of cyber crime police stations in all 57 districts of the state, including Ghaziabad, Raebareli, Sitapur, Hardoi, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Baghpat, Barabanki, Mainpuri, and Rampur. He estimated that the installation of these cybercrime police stations will cost more than Rs 127.24 crore.

The minister stated that these police stations would be constructed shortly and will aid in the management of cyber crime, adding that the state now has 18 district cyber crime police stations in operation.

Khanna stated that the cyber crime police stations were formerly overseen by inspectors general, but will now be overseen by superintendents of police.
