UP: Character verification of all liquor vendors, shopkeepers mandatory

Prayagraj, November 27: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Excise Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy has issued a directive for the character verification of Excise contractors, shopkeepers and vendors of all districts of the state.

This order has been issued on the instructions of Additional Chief Secretary Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi.

Illegal alcohol consumption has come to light in many districts of the state that many deaths have taken place. The involvement of contractors and shopkeepers was found in the investigation.

Hence, taking the matter seriously, all the contractors, shopkeepers and vendors of Indian and English liquor, beer, cannabis have been instructed to get character verification from the police.

Additional Chief Secretary, Excise said that whoever is found to be involved in undesirable acts during the character check from the police, should take strict action against them by cancelling their license.

Additional Chief Secretary Excise Sanjay R. Bhusreddy has issued strict instructions to all Joint Excise Commissioners, all Deputy Excise Commissioners and all District Excise Officers and Assistant Excise Officers of the state.
