Lucknow, 09 Sept: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath examined and issued instructions to safeguard livestock against the lumpy virus on Saturday.

“In recent years, the lumpy virus has caused problems in cattle. Many states have seen substantial livestock losses as a result of the illness. We will have to operate in mission mode to block its expansion across the state. Cattle fairs in the state should be postponed until the situation returns to normal. Interstate animal transportation should be prohibited. Dairy producers should be provided detailed information regarding infection signs and treatment. The entry of unneeded individuals into cow shelters should be prohibited. To assure vaccine availability, a particular immunization program to protect cattle from the lumpy virus is required,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

“Because the virus spreads by mosquitoes, specific cleaning efforts should be carried out in villages and cities in collaboration with the departments of Rural Development, Urban Development, and Animal Husbandry. There should be no infection transmitted under any circumstances. Enclosures should be set up separately for lumpy virus-infected animals, recovered livestock, and non-infected cattle. Common cow herders should be made aware of this, in addition to impoverished cattle breeding sites/Kanha grooves,” he added.

“Consistent attempts to safeguard poor livestock are producing positive outcomes. Currently, 11.89 lakh cows are preserved at 6889 abandoned cattle breeding facilities. Along with this, the Mukhyamantri Sahabhagita Yojana, which is conducted to preserve cows, has had positive outcomes. This initiative has so far resulted in the transfer of around 1.85 lakh cows to cow servants,” Yogi said.
“Currently, food is given at a cost of Rs 30 per cow for the upkeep of the cows at the needy cattle locations and all the families that serve the animals. It should now be raised to Rs 50 per cow. In this sense, there should be no outstanding balance. With a spirit of service, the state government is always making efforts for animal husbandry and conservation. The government has many initiatives in place to promote all cattle rearers, including cattle. It should be assured that those who are eligible receive their benefits,”he concluded.
