Lucknow, 21 August: UP CM Yogi Adityanath paid lavish tributes to senior BJP leader and former UP CM late Kalyan Singh on his first death anniversary, saying that Singh’s previous regimes as CM exemplified the idea of “sushasan” (good governance) while maintaining the state’s socio-cultural character.
Yogi told a crowd after unveiling a statue of Kalyan Singh in a super-speciality cancer institute named after him in Lucknow that the foundation of excellent governance laid during Singh’s tenures let his government do its obligations and benefit the people. “The work culture created by ‘Babuji’ (Kalyan Singh) has reflected itself as the country moves forward under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership,” Adityanath remarked.
The cancer institute now has 734 beds, which the state government intends to expand to 1,200 in the near future. Yogi stated that his government intends to build the facility along the lines of the Tata Cancer Institute in Mumbai. “We expect that the institute would treat cancer patients from all over Northern India, not only UP,” he added.
Yogi stated that a person’s aptitude is not determined by his ‘Bhashan’ (speaking), but by his labour in the face of adversity. He said that his government had shown itself by dealing with the raging Covid outbreak. The CM stated that UP is now on its way to having a medical college in every district. The planned medical college in Bulandshahr has also been named after Kalyan Singh.
The CM stated that building of the Bulandshahr medical college is underway and would be completed by the end of 2023. “There, too, a statue of Kalyan will be put,” Yogi remarked, emphasising the need of giving appropriate respect to famous leaders and heroes in order to instil a feeling of pride in future generations.
