Lakhimpur Kheri, 16 Oct: An official in Uttar Pradesh stated on Monday that a police constable had been suspended because of a social media post in favour of Palestine.
Circle officer (Sadar) Sandeep Singh said Constable Suhail Ansari’s social media post asking for funds for Palestine got viral in the last two to three days. “The superintendent of police has taken notice of the situation. An investigation was conducted in this regard, and constable Ansari was suspended on Monday,” he stated.
According to Singh, no information concerning the constable’s affiliation with any organization has come to light so far, but some minor complaints have been received.
“Other facts are being investigated as well. If he is proved guilty in the future, he will face severe punishment,” according to the circle officer.
On October 7, the militant group Hamas launched an onslaught on southern Israel, murdering hundreds of people. In reply, the Israel Defense Forces conducted a series of assaults. Thousands of civilians have been killed in Israel and the Gaza Strip in the worst conflict between the two sides in decades.
