Lucknow, 30 October: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh claimed that the villages in the state which did not have electricity for years were illuminated by the BJP government in four years.
The state government not only provided electricity but also ensured the supply of electricity in rural areas as per the fixed roster. The roster of power supply for 18 to 22 hours in rural areas and 24 hours in cities has been grounded.
A spokesperson of the state government said that under the Saubhagya scheme, the Yogi government has illuminated more than 1.4 lakh revenue villages and 2.84 lakh more houses in four years. Set a target of completing transformer repair work in 24 hours in cities and 48 hours in rural areas.
The spokesman said that the darkness of more than 1.38 crore houses in the state was removed by giving free electricity connections under Saubhagya Yojana. The state stood first in the entire country in terms of providing maximum electricity connections. For better power supply and better distribution system, 7786.52 km 33 KV lines were constructed in the state.
He said that for 24 hours uninterrupted power supply, the state government started night patrolling system of officers, so that power supply could be rectified by rectifying technical glitches at local level immediately. Despite the scorching heat and humidity, the state government was able to supply adequate power to the city and the rural areas. UPPCL set a new record by supplying the highest number of 512.285 million units on July 7.
โAlong with the online facility of electricity connection, the process of billing and other things related to electricity has been made transparent and easy. Free electricity connections were given to all poor families. A concessional rate of only Rs 3 per unit was implemented on the first 100 units of electricity to poor households,โ he added.
