Lucknow, 10 June: This time in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not get the results as expected in UP. This time its seats were much less as compared to 2019, despite this, maximum 11 ministers have been made from here in Modi Government 3.0. In such a situation, one thing is clear that in the eyes of the top leadership of BJP, the importance of Uttar Pradesh remains intact.
It is noteworthy that Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time on Sunday. A total of 72 ministers including PM Modi took the oath of office and secrecy. Maximum 11 ministers have been made in Modi cabinet from Uttar Pradesh. During the second term of Modi government, about 15 MPs from UP including PM Modi were in the Council of Ministers.
Nine out of 11 ministers have been made from BJP: Nine ministers have been made from BJP, 1 each from Rashtriya Lok Dal and one from Apna Dal (S). In the results of Lok Sabha elections, BJP has got 33 seats, Rashtriya Lok Dal has got 2 seats and Apna Dal (S) has got 1 seat in UP. Rajnath Singh and Hardeep Puri have been included as Cabinet Ministers, Jayant Choudhary as Minister of State (Independent Charge) and the rest as Ministers of State.
Won 73 seats in 2014: In 2014, BJP and ally Apna Dal together won 73 seats out of 80. BJP got 71 seats and Apna Dal got 2 seats. Then UP got special attention in the Modi cabinet: In the union Council of Ministers, 16 ministers including PM Modi were from UP.
64 seats won in 2019: In the 2019 elections, 62 seats were won by BJP and two by Apna Dal S. In the second term of Modi government, 15 ministers including PM Modi were included in the union Council of Ministers.
These leaders of Modi government lost in the 2024 elections: In the 18th Lok Sabha elections, BJP has won 33 seats, RLD has won 2 and Apna Dal S has won one seat. NDA’s total strength is 36 seats. Despite this, 11 ministers including the PM have been included in the Council of Ministers from UP. Ministers included in the Modi government from UP include Sadhvi Niranjan, Smriti Irani, Ajay Mishra Teni, Sanjeev Balyan, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Kaushal Kishore and Maneka Gandhi and Mahendra Nath Pandey. This time they have to face defeat in the elections, whereas, the party did not give ticket to General VK Singh from Ghaziabad this time.
These leaders became ministers from Uttar Pradesh in Modi Government 3.0: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become MP from Varanasi for the third consecutive time. From this Lok Sabha seat, he defeated Ajay Rai of Congress by one lakh, 52 thousand, 513 lakh votes. Rajnath Singh has won the election from Lucknow. He defeated SP’s Ravidas Mehrotra by one lakh, 35 thousand, 159 votes.
Hardeep Singh Puri is a Rajya Sabha MP from UP. This time too he has got a place in the Modi cabinet. In 2020, Hardeep Singh Puri was made Rajya Sabha MP from UP. In the second term of the Modi government, he was given the additional charge of Minister of State for Civil Aviation (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry.
Jayant Chaudhary is the national president of Rashtriya Lok Dal. Apart from this, he is a Rajya Sabha member from 2022. Just before the Lok Sabha elections, he left the Indi alliance and joined the NDA. His party has won both the seats in the NDA alliance.
Jitin Prasad has won the election from Pilibhit. In Pilibhit, he defeated SP’s Bhagwat Sharan Gangwar by 164935 lakh votes. He was a minister in the Yogi government. This time he has got a place in the centre. In 2021, he left Congress and joined BJP. Pankaj Chaudhary has been included in the Modi cabinet for the second consecutive time. He won the election from Maharajganj. Here he has defeated Virendra Chaudhary of Congress by 35451 votes. Pankaj Chaudhary has won the Lok Sabha elections for the seventh consecutive time. SP Singh Baghel has become a minister for the second time in the Modi government. He has won the elections from Agra. Here he defeated Suresh Chand Kadam of Samajwadi Party by 271294 lakh votes.
Apna Dal Sonelal chief Anupriya Patel has become a minister in the third term of the Modi government. She has taken oath as Minister of State for the third time in the union Council of Ministers. She has scored a hat-trick of victories from Mirzapur. Kirtivardhan Singh (MP from Gonda), Banwari Lal Verma (BL Verma, Rajya Sabha member) and Kamlesh Paswan (MP from Bansgaon) have been made ministers of state.
