Lucknow, 8 Jan: To protect the needy and destitute from the bone-chilling cold wave sweeping across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to ensure adequate supplies of blankets and bonfires, as well as to actively monitor the arrangement of night shelters.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Yogi government purchased 4,96,883 blankets for distribution in all 75 districts of the state, with over 2,86,740 blankets been distributed to the needy. In accordance with the directions issued by CM Yogi Adityanath, public officials have begun distributing blankets in such a way that no poor person is left out.
All district officials are also diligently involved in distribution and monitoring. The government has distributed blankets to nearly two lakh individuals. To protect the public from the cold, the most 16379 blankets, were provided in Hardoi till the first week of January, followed by 9,894 in Prayagraj, 8,715 in Rae Bareli, and 7,560 in Sitapur. Yogi has already visited Gorakhpur to see the ground reality of night shelters.
Following the CM’s orders, District Magistrates and police are conducting surprise inspections of night shelters to ensure that no one sleeps on the streets during severe weather and that all those in need use the service. Public leaders such as local MPs, MLAs, and municipal body chairmen are constantly distributing relief goods such as blankets. In accordance with the CM’s direction, care is also being taken to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all night shelters.
