Lucknow, 4 Nov: The Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Education Board has voiced concern over the meddling of education department personnel in the day-to-day operations of madarsas in the state.
“Officials of the state education department are not the appropriate authorities to inspect the madarsas managed by the department of minority welfare,” stated board chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Javed.
Following the establishment of the minority welfare department in 1995, the work of the madarsas, which had previously been controlled by the education department, was transferred to the minority welfare department.
“Subsequently, the Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Education Council Act, 2004, was passed, and the Uttar Pradesh Non-Government Arabic and Persian Madarsa Recognition, Administration, and Service Regulations 2016 were enacted. Since that time, the district madrasa education officer has also served as the district minority welfare officer.
According to the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board Act 2004 and Regulations 2016, no officer of any department other than the minority welfare department will examine or provide notice to any madarsa,? he added.
