Banda, 2 Aug: Anxious about not receiving additional dowry, a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Banda performed triple talaq on his pregnant wife on the street.
He used to abuse and torment her while seeking dowry, which resulted in the death of her unborn child.
According to SHO Manoj Kumar Shukla, a case has been filed against the man and six of his family members for violations of the Triple Talaq Act, dowry harassment, attempted murder, and other offences. The couple tied nuptial knot in November 2020.
According to the woman, her father paid his in-laws more than he could afford as dowry at the time of the wedding. Her spouse and his family, on the other hand, continued demanding more money. Her husband, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and others eventually took further dowry.
They did, however, want an additional Rs 2 lakh. She said that her in-laws wanted to remarry her husband. According to victim, her pregnancy was terminated due to physical abuse by her in-laws. An investigation is now underway, and investigators are attempting to gather evidence in the case.
