Lucknow, March 27: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to ensure timely all arrangements related to wheat procurement being started from April 1.
He said that the farmers should not face any problem under any circumstances. Involvement of middlemen will not be tolerated. The Chief Minister has directed the District Magistrates to monitor it.
In a meeting held on Saturday at the Chief Minister’s residence, he said that the present state government is determined to provide fair price to the farmers for their produce. Since 2017, the benefit of Price Support Scheme (MSP) is being provided to the farmers on a large scale. Wheat procurement under MSP should also be done in a transparent manner in the year 2022-2023.
He said that wheat would be procured on the basis of Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2015 per quintal in the Rabi marketing year 2022-2023. The District Magistrate will ensure that wheat is procured from the farmers at the minimum support price. Involvement of middlemen in wheat procurement should not be allowed under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that farmers do not have to wait for long to sell their produce. All facilities should be made available to the farmers at the wheat procurement centers. Their payment should be ensured on time. Arrangements for sitting, shade and drinking water should be ensured for the farmers at the wheat purchasing centers. The District Magistrates should determine the purchasing centers in such a way that farmers do not have to carry their produce for long distances. Road signage must be put up for the wheat purchasing center. Wide publicity should also be given to the places of establishment of wheat purchasing center.
Yogi said that electronic fork, moisture measuring device, winnowing fan and sieve etc. equipment must be kept at every purchasing centre. All arrangements should also be made for safe storage of wheat. Arrangements should also be made for sheds at wheat purchasing centers so that the purchased wheat does not get affected by rain.
