Lucknow, July 21: The Chinhat police station of the Lucknow on Tuesday arrested seven other accused allegedly involved in the inter-state vehicle thief gang.
According to the police, a total of 62 four-wheeled luxury vehicles have been recovered from their possession out of this, 51 vehicles were recovered by the Chinhat police. Meanwhile, other members of this gang were caught earlier by surveillance and modern policing.
Joint Commissioner of Police Crime Nilabja Chaudhary has held a press briefing on Tuesday in which he apprised that seven members of the vehicle thief gang have been nabbed by the Chinhat police. The accused caught during an interrogation are Satpal Singh, Manoj Kumar, Enulhaq, Vikas Jaiswal alias Vicky, Imran, Ziaul Haq, Vinod Sharma, all from different areas of Kanpur.
JCP Crime further informed that during further inquiries, arrested accused told that they used to get the chassis and vehicle numbers of the crashed vehicles and get the stolen vehicles registered through the forged documents. After that those vehicles were sold in different states besides Bihar, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Nepal.
Joint Commissioner of Police said that on Tuesday, Chinhat police arrested Satpal and Manoj Kumar, residents of Kanpur city, near Kamta trijunction. The accused were caught in a stolen car and came to sell it, however, when the police arrested the two and questioned them, they revealed the names of their five other associates. On the identification of these two, the police team nabbed five people sitting in a Fortuner car near Sapna Car Bazaar located in Kalli West. After strict quizzing, the police recovered a total of 62 four-wheelers from different areas at the behest of the accused.
According to ACP Vibhuti Khand Swatanter Kumar Singh, the inquiry revealed that Satpal has been selling vehicles for nearly 20 years. Though, with the help of his associate, he sold stolen vehicles through OLX and other dealers while nabbed Manoj runs a spare part shop, under which he used to play all games. The caught Vinod is also an active member of the Lady Don Agra gang.
New record registered in the name of the Lucknow Police
It has been reported from the Police Department that the record of recovery of maximum stolen vehicles in the history of the country was registered in the name of Maharashtra Police, which was of 104 vehicles. Now the Lucknow police have created history in the country by owning records in its name. A total of 112 luxury vehicles have been recovered by the Lucknow Police.
