Lucknow, January 14: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said here on Friday that a total of 33,61,837 publicity materials have been removed from public and private places so far in order to ensure the model code of conduct implemented across the state in the context of assembly elections.
โOut of this, a total of 2, 38,971 promotional materials were removed from public places in the last 24 hours, while a total of 87,239 promotional materials were removed from private places,โ he said.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that in the last 24 hours, action has been taken in 22,629 cases of wall writing from public places, 1, 12,008 of posters, 75,321 of banners and 29,013 other cases.
Shukla further apprised similarly, action was taken in 8,693 cases of wall writing from private places, 36,372 of posters, 26,223 of banners and 15,951 other cases.
He said that the model code of conduct has been effectively enforced along with the law and order of the state for free, fair, peaceful, inclusive and safe voting. In this context, action is being taken by the police, income tax, excise, narcotics and other departments, in which 4,15,299 licensed weapons have been deposited by the police department so far. So far 163 licenses have been confiscated and 477 licenses have been cancelled.
He told that similarly, 12, 32,232 people were arrested while taking preventive action under CrPC. So far, an FIR has been registered against 51 people under various sections for violation of model code of conduct, out of which FIR has been registered against 13 people in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, 2317 arms, 2393 cartridges, 186 explosives and 36 bombs have been recovered by the police department so far.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that so far 2,13,675 liters of liquor worth more than Rs 4.69 crore have been seized by the Excise and Police Department. Apart from this, cash worth more than Rs 1.51 crore has also been recovered so far in the action of the police department. Similarly, about 2607 kg of ganja worth Rs 8.61 crore has been seized so far by the Narcotics and Police Department.
