UP receives below average rainfall this monsoon, scientists advise farmers to grow vegetables, coarse grains

Lucknow, 05 August: Farmers of most districts in Uttar Pradesh are still looking towards the sky for rain. In many places, people have not yet planted paddy. Clouds come, but return without rain resulting in creating a lot of trouble for paddy farmers.

At the same time, agricultural scientists say that farmers should give up their hope for paddy farming and turn to vegetables and coarse grains.

According to the Met department, the situation in the state that there is still 13 percent less rainfall than the average.In 42 districts of Purvanchal including Lucknow Kanpur, there are 34 districts where rainfall has been less than the average. In Kannauj,Kushinagar, Mau, Mirzapur, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Amethi, Unnao, there has not been even 50 percent of the average rainfall.Where in the state, there has been 13 percent less rainfall than the average.

On the other hand, there is 17 percent less rainfall in Purvanchal. Talking about the west,Shamli, Saharanpur, Mathura, Gautam Buddha Nagar have received less than 50 percent of the average rainfall. The indifference of this weather has increased the problems of the farmers. Still many farmers are waiting for rain to transplant paddy. On the other hand, the farmers who have transplanted paddy are sweating to provide water.

Agriculture scientists say that if this situation remains, then more money will be spent in harvesting paddy than the income.

Vegetable Research Center scientist Dr Rajesh Rai told that this weather is suitable for chillies and other vegetables. Farmers should leave traditional farming and turn towards this. Profit will also increase manifold through vegetables.Less rain is not going to affect it much.

On the other hand, Kanpur Agricultural University’s Prof Munish says that farmers should adapt themselves according to the weather. If there is a dry weather, then the cultivation of jowar and millet will be more beneficial for this. The sale of coarse grains is also better than paddy.
