From the current financial year, the government will now give Rs 3,500 per year to Scheduled Caste and Tribe students of classes 9 and 10 under Pre-10th Scholarship. Till now, students of this category were provided scholarship of Rs 3,000 every year.

The special thing is that now children studying in classes 9 and 10 of families who are involved in sanitation work will also get scholarship from the government for the first time. Families of all income groups will be able to take advantage of this scheme.

Students will no longer have to fill personal details in the application form. Name, father’s name, date of birth etc. will be automatically obtained from Aadhaar.

“Also, the marks of children from CBSE and ICSC boards will be available online, which will eliminate the possibility of errors at the time of application and more and more students will be able to take advantage of the scheme. Similarly, by linking the portal with DigiLocker and NPCI, mistakes in filling account numbers etc. have also been eliminated,” added govt spokesman.

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category can now apply for class 11, 12 and other upper classes till 31st March, so that they can apply for scholarship even if the exam results are late or the session starts late.

After getting scholarship in non-professional courses like B.Sc or BA, scholarship facility will now be available in professional courses like B.Tech also.

Biometric attendance is being implemented in schools in a phased manner. Those institutions which will not implement biometric attendance will not be given the benefit of scholarship from the financial year 2025-26.
