UP student drowns in Ganga in Rishikesh, rescue op underway

Rishikesh, 23 October: A student who had come to visit Rishikesh with other school students from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh was swept away in the Ganga when he had gone to take a bath. The rescue team has still not been able to find him.

SDRF in-charge Kavindra Sajwan said that on Monday morning, SDRF team reached the spot after receiving information about drowning of a youth near Phool Chatti Ashram under Lakshman Jhula police station.

The team launched a search operation, but till noon no trace of the drowned youth was found. The team is conducting search operations at all possible places till Pashulok Barrage.

It was told that a group of 60 students of a school from Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh had come to visit Haridwar Rishikesh, out of which 15 year old Sakin’s son Israr Ahmed along with his friends started bathing under the Phool Chatti Ashram under Laxman Jhula police station area, he fell into the Ganga and got carried away.

However, seeing him floating, his other companions also tried to save him, but they failed, about which the police was informed. On this, SDRF team is running a search operation to find him.
