New Delhi, 09 September: The Supreme Court has stayed the order of Allahabad High Court on the recruitment of 69 thousand assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court asked the Uttar Pradesh government and the concerned parties to submit written arguments.

The Supreme Court said that they need time to study the decision of the High Court. In its decision, the Allahabad High Court, while cancelling the selection lists of June 2020 and January 2022, had ordered the UP government to issue a new selection list for 69 thousand teachers in three months on the basis of the assistant teacher recruitment examination held in 2019.

The petition has been filed by the candidates of the unreserved category. In its order, the High Court had also said that if a reserved category candidate achieves merit equal to the general category, then his selection should be considered in the general category. Due to this order of the High Court, a large number of teachers working in Uttar Pradesh were facing the threat of losing their jobs.
