Lucknow, 6 Oct: The Uttar Pradesh government will launch a three-month Rani Laxmibai self-defense training program for females in the state’s secondary schools as part of its Mission Shakti effort. The initiative will be implemented in 1,981 such schools.

According to Chief Secretary DS Mishra, as part of the initiative, 10,417 female police would be given two-wheelers to instruct the pupils. In the first phase, 1,100 female beat constables will be provided with two-wheelers.

The administration has also set a goal of 3,000 pink booths. In the initial phase, the booths would be installed at 20 religious locations across the state’s nine districts. At these booths, women police officers would be assigned to investigate and prevent crimes against women.

In addition, the government has developed a Safe City initiative, which will be implemented throughout 17 local bodies. “There will be comprehensive CCTV coverage in all of these areas so that untoward incidents can be prevented,” according to the program. If a mistake occurs despite this, action would be taken against the official in question,” Mishra stated.
