Lucknow, June 15: So far, 9.56 lakh electricity consumers took advantage of the one time settlement (OTS) scheme. Out of this, 8.34 lakh people have deposited their entire power dues. 1.21 lakh consumers have got their instalments made on their dues. Under the scheme, revenue of Rs 580 crore has been received till yesterday and it has provided relief of Rs 147 crore to the consumers, Power Minister told in press conference.
He said that there are about 2.75 crore defaulting consumers, who can pay their outstanding bills by taking advantage of this scheme. Due to this, the department will also get the outstanding revenue of Rs 35,000 crore.
Sharma directed the officers to set up a control room at each division level to communicate with the consumers and give the benefit of OTS. Wide publicity should be given to the scheme for the information of the consumers. Publicity should be done through loudspeakers in villages and villages also.
He ordered to run the caller tune of the OTS scheme on the phones of all the employees and officers of the department and to keep its chart. Its publicity should also be done through garbage collection vehicle.
He said that under this, consumers with arrears of more than one lakh rupees have the facility to deposit the amount in 12 installments and up to one lakh rupees in six installments.
He stated that instead of disconnection, every effort should be made to collect the bills from the people.
He has also asked the officials that if there is any complaint of the consumers related to the bill, then it should be resolved before including it in this scheme.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary Energy and Chairman UPPCL M. Devraj informed that on average 25 percent progress has been made in the OTS scheme so far. There are still 12 divisions in which OTS progress is less than 05 percent.
He said that strict instructions have been passed to all the divisions to ensure 100% coverage of the scheme.
