Chief Minister summoned DGP regarding the situation of the state, called a meeting

Section 144 applied in these districts with additional force deployment

Lucknow, December 16: Students of Nadwa College in Lucknow fiercely threw stones at the police to protest against the action of police with the students of Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia, who were agitating on the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA). Although the police have controlled the situation but on a safety measure, the Internet services have been stopped and section 144 has been implemented in seven districts of the Uttar Pradesh regarding law and order situation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has summoned Director General of Police(DGP) OP Singh to discuss the situation in Aligarh and Lucknow. The Chief Minister has directed the DGP to strictly deal with it. After this, the DGP has imposed Section 144 in Lucknow, Aligarh, Saharanpur, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Bareilly and Kasganj. Internet services have also been stopped in these districts with additional force deployment.

The DGP said that it has given instructions to deal with strict action against those spreading rumors on social media. The DGP informed that Rapid Action Force has been deployed. No untoward incident has been reported so far. All police officers have been given instructions in view of security. He said that if necessary, this section 144 will be implemented in the entire state.

DGP convenes meeting

After meeting the Chief Minister, Director General of Police OP Singh held a meeting with the police officers regarding the law and order of the state. In any case, the atmosphere of the state will not be allowed to deteriorate.
