New Delhi, March 27: The University Grants Commission (UGC), through a circular on Sunday, has asked vice-chancellors, directors and principals of all central universities and colleges to make the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) the basis for admission to their undergraduate level courses.

UGC President Professor M Jagadesh Kumar today said that we have written to the Vice Chancellors, Directors and Principals of all Universities and Colleges to use CUET scores for admission in their UG programmes.

He said that the CUET exam will free the students from the worry of appearing for the entrance exams of different universities.

In a circular written to the state universities, the attention of the universities and college heads has been drawn to the public notice issued on March 21. In this, admission to undergraduate programs in UGC-funded Indian universities from the academic session 2022-23 through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) has been asked. There is a provision to conduct CUET by National Testing Agency (NTA) in 13 languages โ€‹โ€‹including Hindi and English.

The circular reads that many state universities, deemed universities, private universities and other higher educational institutions (EL) in the country also use 12th board marks for admission to UG programs or conduct entrance exams.
