Ghaziabad, April 12: Four cow smugglers were arrested during an encounter on Friday night in Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate of Uttar Pradesh. Two cow smugglers were injured by the bullet fired by the police during the encounter and were admitted to the hospital. All four cow smugglers are residents of Meerut district and have confessed to carrying out the cow slaughter incident in Niwari police station area recently, police said.
However, their one companion escaped by dodging the police. All four were going somewhere in a Honda City car. Then the police surrounded them and arrested them.
ACP Gyan Prakash Rai said that on Friday night, Niwari police station was patrolling on MP Sikheda Sara Road for crime prevention. During patrolling, five criminals present in Honda City car were surrounded while planning to slaughter a cow. Seeing themselves surrounded, these criminals opened fire on the police team. The police also fired back. In which two criminals were injured by police bullets. While two other cow smugglers were arrested. Their other companion took advantage of the darkness and fled from the spot.
During interrogation, the cow smugglers caught revealed their names as Arun resident of Achhronda police station Partapur district Meerut, permanent address village Johra police station Jani Meerut, Shadab resident of Sector 11 Shastri Nagar police station Nauchandi Meerut, Jameel resident of Maqbara Diggi Bajariya opposite Patli Gali police station Delhi Gate district Meerut and Shavez resident of Shyamnagar Ittefaqnagar street no. 15 police station Lisadhi Gate district Meerut. The name of the absconding criminal is Rizwan resident of Salehnagar police station Jani Meerut. Arun and Shadab have been injured.
These cow smugglers accepted to have carried out the incident of cow slaughter in the mango orchard of Subodh Tyagi located near Sara Govindpuri Marg on 03.04.2017 along with their companions.
Two pistols, cow slaughtering equipments, 03 knives, 01 Gandasa, 02 pieces of rope, 03 plastic bags and a Honda City car used in the cow slaughter incident have been recovered from their possession.
