Lucknow, 08 July: Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission heard electricity rates in the presence of electricity consumers council. In the hearing on electricity rates in the presence of Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman Arvind Kumar, Member Sanjay Kumar, everyone put forth their side. Kesco Company Managing Director Samuel Pal gave his presentation on this occasion.
On this occasion, it was said on behalf of the Consumer Council that the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath should get a CBI inquiry done in the electricity purchase case. For this, the Regulatory Commission should also request the government because 2951 million units of electricity were purchased for 2741 crores in the year 2023-24 for the power companies of the state and the Power Corporation sold its surplus 6397 million units of electricity for only 2765 crores.
The Consumer Council said that Rs 33122 crore of consumers is still surplus on the power companies. In return, electricity cannot be taken for five years. Apart from this, the consumer council also raised the issues of 24-hour electricity and contract workers. Finally, the chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Arvind Kumar directed the electricity companies to advertise loudly and compensate the consumers for consumer service.
