Dehradun, January 25: Counting of votes started at 8 am on Saturday amid tight security in 100 municipal bodies of Uttarakhand. So far, 54 counting centers have been set up across the temple state, where votes are being counted on 986 tables. After the voting on January 23, the fate of the candidates will be decided today.
The Counting of votes is underway peacefully in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Almora and other districts. Counting of postal ballots has been started first. A gathering of supporters of the candidates is being seen outside the counting centers. Entry in the centers is being given only to pass holders.
So far, 6366 personnel have been deployed in the counting process across the state. Every update related to the counting of votes can be seen on the Commission’s website https://secresult.uk.gov.in.
Meanwhile, 5405 candidates were in the fray for 1382 posts in 100 municipal bodies of Uttarakhand. These include 11 posts of mayor in 11 municipal corporations, 46 posts of president in 46 municipalities, and 43 posts of president in 43 Nagar Panchayats. Apart from this, counting of votes is also being done for 540 posts of councillors in corporations, 444 posts of councillors in municipalities, and 298 posts of ward members in Nagar Panchayats.
