Varanasi, May 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inquired about the condition of children who lost their parents due to the global pandemic Corona.
Addressing the children virtually, the Prime Minister said that today I am talking to you not as the Prime Minister, but as a member of your family. I am very relieved to be among all of you children today. Life sometimes puts us at unexpected turns, situations that we have not even imagined; suddenly darkness envelops us with laughter.
Modi said that Corona has done something similar in the lives of many people, with many families. I know how difficult this change is in the lives of those who have lost their loved ones due to Corona.
Before the conversation, the Prime Minister transferred funds through the PM Cares for Children scheme to empower these children. Under this scheme, scholarships were sent from PM Cares Fund to the bank accounts of such children. Eight children from his parliamentary constituency were also benefitted by this effort of the Prime Minister.
In this program organized in the Commissionerate Auditorium, Union Minister Mahendranath Pandey and District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma gave the kit of PM Care for Children scheme to Shivani, resident of Pandeypur.
Shivani, a resident of Kushinagar, is a student of B.Com. His father had died in a road accident 10 years ago. The mother also died in the wave of Corona. Shivani has three sisters.
However, eight children affected by Covid-19 have been provided health cards for free treatment up to Rs five lakh.
According to the eligibility, one child has been admitted in Kendriya Vidyalaya. Along with this, the ration card of all the children has also been made.
The Prime Minister called upon the children to move forward with a resolution and to make continuous efforts to fulfill that resolution.
It is worth mentioning that PM Cares will also help such children in getting education loan for professional course, higher education. For other daily needs, arrangements have also been made for 4 thousand rupees every month for them through other schemes.
On attaining the age of 18 to 23 years, they will get a stipend every month and till the age of 23, they will get 10 lakh rupees together.
The government had launched this scheme on May 29 last year. Under this, children who have lost their parents, legal guardian, adoptive parents or one of the parents due to the corona epidemic in between March 11, 2020 to February 28, 2022 are provided. Under this, a scholarship of 20 thousand rupees is given to each child. Apart from this, children will also be provided PM Cares for Children passbook and health card under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
