New Delhi, October 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the job fairs organised in various states and union territories of the country are proof of the government’s commitment towards the future of the youth.
He said that we are not only providing employment but also maintaining a transparent system.
The Prime Minister today addressed the National Employment Fair through video conferencing and distributed appointment letters to over 51,000 newly appointed personnel in various government departments and organizations.
The youth selected from across the country will join the government in ministries and departments including the Ministry of Railways, the Department of Posts, the Home Ministry, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of School Education and Literacy, and the Ministry of Education, Health, and Family Welfare. During the Prime Minister’s address, 37 places across the country were associated with the fair.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the journey of employment fairs has reached an important stage, as the fairs started in October last year. Since then, appointment letters for government jobs have been provided to lakhs of youth in various job fairs in union Territory and NDA-ruled states.
The Prime Minister said, “There is still some time left for Diwali, but for the families of 50 thousand youth who have received appointment letters, this opportunity is no less than Diwali.”
Modi said the government is not only trying to streamline the processes but is also restructuring the examination process. He said that the time taken for recruitment under the staff selection cycle has also been reduced to half.
Discussing some of the examinations under SSC, the Prime Minister said that the examinations are now being conducted in 13 different regional languages apart from Hindi and English, making it easier for those candidates to break the language barrier.
“The government is strengthening traditional sectors that provide employment opportunities while also promoting new sectors such as renewable energy, space, automation, and defence exports,” the Prime Minister said.
He also mentioned opening new avenues in the field of drone technology and gave examples of crop assessment and nutrient spraying being done with its help.
Referring to the revival of Khadi, the Prime Minister said that the shine of Khadi, which was lost earlier, has now returned. He said that compared to just Rs 30 thousand crore 10 years ago, Khadi has now registered sales of more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore. This has created many jobs in the Khadi and village industries sectors, especially benefiting women.
The Prime Minister said that for the competitive advantage of any country, it is necessary to fully realise the power of youth. He mentioned skills and education initiatives that are preparing youth to take full advantage of new opportunities. Under the new National Education Policy, new medical colleges, IITs, IIMs, and IIITs are being opened, and crores of youth have been trained under the PM Skill Development Scheme.
The Prime Minister mentioned the auspicious occasion of Sharad Purnima and urged the new recruits to spread the message of Vocal for Local, which is also a medium to generate employment within the country.
