New Delhi, 29 September: The Supreme Court has issued contempt notices to six firecracker manufacturer in the country for not complying with its order banning firecrackers. A bench headed by Justice MR Shah issued the contempt notice.

The court said that the preliminary report of the Joint Director, CBI, Chennai states that the firecracker manufacturing companies are still using barium nitrate and its other salts for making firecrackers. Firecracker manufacturers do not mention the ingredients on the label of firecrackers. To do so is a clear violation of the earlier order of the Court.

The court allowed firecracker makers to see the CBI report and directed them to file their replies by October 6.

The court said that people who have asthma disease can understand this problem. Understanding the situation in the country, we have to adopt a balanced approach, because there are some celebrations going on every day. We cannot let people die.

During the hearing, when lawyer Kiran Suri asked the court to listen to the firecracker manufacturing companies, the court said that we will hear before you go to jail.
