New Delhi, 28 October: The level of pollution in Delhi-NCR is continuously increasing. Delhi’s air quality reached “very poor” category on Saturday. AQI 301 was recorded in Delhi. The level of air quality in the cities surrounding Delhi is more or less the same as the national capital.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 301 at 12 noon on Saturday, while it was 261 on Friday. It is likely to worsen in the coming days due to adverse weather conditions.
Along with this, due to increasing incidents of stubble burning, the troubles of the capital are also increasing.
The situation in the cities surrounding Delhi is more or less like that of the national capital. AQI was recorded at 286 in Ghaziabad, 248 in Gurugram, 268 in Faridabad, 284 in Noida and 349 in Greater Noida.
After AQI crosses 300, the Air Quality Management Commission can impose restrictions in phase three of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi. Currently, phase two restrictions of GRP are in place.
It is noteworthy that AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, between 51 and 100 is ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 is ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 is ‘poor’, between 301 and 400 is ‘very poor’ and 401 is ‘poor’. Anything between 500 and 500 is considered ‘severe’.
