Kanpur, 30 November: It rained in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh including the capital Lucknow and Kanpur on Thursday morning. It is estimated that the mercury may fall after three days.
Due to the sudden change in weather on Thursday, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain with strong winds in 23 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Meteorologist Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur said that rain started in Kanpur from Thursday morning and continued intermittently till morning.
Similarly, it rained in many districts including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Agra, Jalaun, Prayagraj, Varanasi in the early hours of Thursday. There has also been drizzle in Etawah, Fatehpur and Jalaun. Earlier on Wednesday, rain was recorded in Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal, Bijnor.
Agricultural meteorologist Pandey said that the Western Disturbance is in the form of a trough in westerly winds about 5.8 km above sea level from Punjab through Haryana to Delhi. A cyclonic circulation has formed over Sri Lanka and surrounding areas.
A low pressure area over South Andaman and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has transformed into a deep low pressure over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea.
It is likely to move in a west-northwest direction and turn into a depression around November 30.
Thereafter, during the next 48 hours, it is likely to move north-westwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over south-east Bay of Bengal.
Between November 29 and December 1, a trough will develop in the easterly winds blowing at lower levels from the Southeast Arabian Sea through Kerala to North Maharashtra.
