Weather update: Cold wave loosens grip in UP due to change in wind directions

Kanpur, 16 December: The effect of snowfall on the mountains was clearly visible in the plains of Uttar Pradesh due to the blowing of westerly winds. The minimum temperature was continuously falling due to the cold winds and cold wave conditions had also developed in many districts, but now the wind directions have changed while the temperature escalated due to this, the cold wave also weakened.

Dr SN Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural Technology University, said on Monday that a depression has again formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, the direction of the winds has changed from northwest to north-east and these winds are proving to be helpful in increasing the temperature of Uttar Pradesh.

Pandey told that in such a situation, due to the blowing of westerly winds in Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur, the severe cold which was prevailing in the past days and the cold wave in many districts has weakened. Not only this, the weather of the mountains is also now seen to be clear. However, there will not be much effect in the winter and the cold will continue to bother people. There is no possibility of rain in all the states of North India till next week. Western disturbance is present over North Afghanistan and surrounding areas and as soon as the wind direction becomes westerly, its effect will be seen in Uttar Pradesh.

The maximum temperature in Kanpur was recorded at 23.8 and the minimum temperature at 4.7 degree Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning was 84 and the relative humidity in the afternoon was 41 percent. The wind direction was North East with an average speed of 1.1 km per hour.

According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of light fog (light haze) in the morning in Kanpur in the next five days but there is no possibility of rain.
