Weather update: Mercury drops further in the last 48 hours in North India, N-W winds fetching cold

Kanpur, 15 November: The North-western winds are bringing cold and night mercury dropped. The minimum night temperature was recorded at 12.8 degrees Celsius. This is the lowest mercury so far in November. For the second time in the season, fog and morning mist were seen. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the effect of cold will be visible in the coming 24 hours.

Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, Agriculture and Meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural and Technology University, Kanpur, said that Friday’s minimum temperature was recorded at 12.8 degrees.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that in the next five days, light to moderate smock haze is likely to be seen in the sky in the morning but there is no possibility of rain.

Weather system across the country

Dr Pandey said that this cyclonic circulation is formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the northern Tamil Nadu coast. Another cyclonic circulation is over the southeast Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast. Western Disturbance is characterised as a trough in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds that moves north of 30 degrees north latitude along longitude 60 degrees east.

Possible weather activity during next 24 hours

In the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells is possible over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain is possible over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Lakshadweep and southern Telangana. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is possible over Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarnagar, Ladakh and parts of Jammu and Kashmir
