Kanpur, 25 November: The Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperature is likely to fluctuate by 01 to 03 degrees, due to which the cold of the day may also increase. Although there will be light to moderate clouds in the coming five days, there is no possibility of rainfall.

This information was given by Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on Saturday.

He said that the maximum temperature around Kanpur on Saturday was 26.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature reached 10.0 degrees Celsius, which is minus (-2.6) degrees Celsius from normal. Talking about relative humidity, the maximum was 95 percent and the minimum humidity was recorded at 51 percent. The average wind speed was 1.0 kilometers per hour and the wind direction was north-east.

Weather system across the country

The meteorologist said that the Western Disturbance is over the Western Himalayas in the form of a trough. A cyclonic circulation has formed over the southern Andaman Sea. Under its influence, a low pressure area may form on November 26 which may turn into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea around November 27. A trough is extending from the cyclonic circulation to Gujarat.

Light rain, snowfall likely over Western Himalayas

Western disturbance is coming towards the mountains. There may be light to moderate rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 26 and 27 November. This is the forecast of the weather department.

Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, said on Saturday that the hills of the Western Himalayas are waiting for an active western disturbance.

In fact, we have not seen any active Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas so far. A moderate intensity western disturbance reached the hills on October 9 and 10 and again on November 9 and 10, causing light to moderate rain and snowfall.

The second half of October and most of November did not receive significant rain and snowfall. This is why normal cold is absent in north-western India. From the night of 25th November, a fresh western disturbance is coming towards the mountains. There may be light to moderate rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 26 and 27 November. However, rainfall activities will not be very intense and widespread.

These systems start moving towards the western Himalayas in October and continue till March, with peak intensity occurring during December and January. However, 2 to 3 active western disturbances also hit the mountains in November. The frequency and intensity of western disturbances in the months of October and November last year have been much less than normal.
