Kanpur, 01 December: Due to light to moderate cloudy sky across Uttar Pradesh in the next five days, there is a possibility of light drizzle at local level along with strong winds on December 1, 4 and 5. There was 3.8 mm rainfall on Friday, said Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on Friday.
He said that on Friday the maximum temperature was 26.0 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 15.2 degrees Celsius. Talking about relative humidity, the maximum relative humidity was 96 percent and minimum 70 percent. The average wind speed was 3.7 kilometers per hour and the wind direction was south-east and a record of 3.8 mm for the year was recorded around Kanpur division.
The meteorologist said that a clearly marked low pressure area over the south-east Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards during the last 12 hours and concentrated into a depression. It will take place on December 1 at 5:30 PM IST. It is centered at 9.1 north latitude and 86.4 degrees east longitude in the south-east and adjacent south-west Bay of Bengal.
He added, about 790 km east southeast of Puducherry, 800 km southeast of Chennai, 990 km southeast of Bapatla and 970 km southeast of Machilipatnam. It may continue to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression by December 2 and a cyclonic storm by December 3 over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Pandey further apprised that it will then move in a north-westerly direction and cross Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North Tamil Nadu coast between Chennai and Machilipatnam as a cyclonic storm around the evening of 4 December.
He said, a cyclonic circulation is over north-western Rajasthan and surrounding areas. A cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level over the south-western Bay of Bengal and adjacent South Sri Lanka. A cyclonic circulation lies over the Northeast Arabian Sea off the Maharashtra coast.
