Hamirpur, 26 December: Naib Tehsildar of Maudaha tehsil in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh Ashish Gupta sparked a controversy when his photo of offering ‘Namaz’ at a mosque went viral on social media.
The administration has given instructions to investigate this matter as soon as the information is received. The Tehsildar has also started investigating the entire matter. Naib Tehsildar Ashish Gupta is married.
SDM Rajesh Mishra said on Tuesday evening that the Maulana of the mosque had informed about this matter, on which the matter was investigated after reaching the mosque. Tehsildar reached the spot and investigated the matter.
During investigation, Naib Tehsildar Ashish Gupta told the officials that he had gone to the mosque to study Urdu. This matter is still being investigated. After the investigation, its complete report will be sent to higher officials.
Naib Tehsildar Ashish Gupta posted in Maudaha tehsil has been accused of religious conversion. Naib Tehsildar has been going to a mosque in Maudaha town for many days to offer namaz. Maulana was shocked to see an unknown person wearing a cap and offering Namaz. When he asked the name and address of the person, the Naib Tehsildar, hiding his real name, told him that he was the Naib Tehsildar of this place.
On hearing this, the Maulana of the mosque lost his senses. He immediately informed this to the SDM.
Mohammed Mustaq of the mosque told that an unknown person comes to the mosque continuously to offer namaz. When asked, he revealed his name as Mohammad Yusuf and Naib Tehsildar of Maudaha Tehsil. He is a resident of Kanpur.
Seeing that the matter is serious, the authorities were immediately informed about it. The Naib Tehsildar is married and has been posted here in Maudaha for a long time.
The investigating officer also asked the people present on the spot whether a person of any other religion could not offer Namaz in the mosque, to which the people said that they had no objection to anyone offering Namaz. The only thing that is important is that the blame should not fall on them.
Investigation has started into the case of Naib Tehsildar continuously reaching the mosque and offering Namaz.
Mohammad Mustaq said that on the information of Naib Tehsildar offering Namaz in the mosque, Tehsildar Maudha has started investigation.
The Tehsildar has recorded the statements of the people in the mosque and also collected signatures from them.
