Moradabad, 05 January: Sambhal District Magistrate (DM) Rajendra Pensiya said on Sunday that Sambhal is a tourist pilgrimage city. Out of 68 pilgrimage sites and 19 wells, work has started to restore the old form by marking 34 pilgrimage sites and 19 wells, it is necessary to improve it. He also said that Yam Tirtha located in Hallu Sarai of Sambhal will be improved at a cost of Rs 1.18 crore under Bandhan Yojana. Rs 58 lakh has been received for this.

It is mentioned in the Puranas that in Kaliyug, Lord Kalki ( Future incarnation of Lord Vishnu- a supreme God in Hinduism) will incarnate in Sambhal of UP. In the Puranas itself, Sambhal of ancient times has been called Sambal. Presently it is called Sambhal. Description of 19 ancient wells and 68 pilgrimage sites of Sambhal is found in many religious texts. Sambhal has a lot of historical and religious importance. After the opening of the ancient Shiva temple in Khaggu Sarai of the district on 13 December, which was closed for about 46 years, District Magistrate Rajendra Pansiya has started a campaign to find and revive all the ancient wells including these wells described in religious texts.

After finding a 46-year-old temple in Sambhal, the DM wrote a letter to the Archaeological Survey of India for investigation and demanded inspection of the ancient pilgrimage sites and wells of the district. The ASI team also surveyed many pilgrimage sites and temples as well as ancient wells in Sambhal.

On December 21, during excavation in Laxman Ganj area of โ€‹โ€‹Chandausi in Sambhal, a stepwell about 150 years old and spread over an area of โ€‹โ€‹400 square meters was found. In which excavation and survey work is going on continuously since then. Mysterious facts are being revealed every day.

According to Sambhal DM Pensiya, there is a religious belief that Sambhal city is situated in a triangular position. There are pilgrimage sites on all three corners of it. Due to which the historical and religious city has become a center of tourism.

DM said that like Yamtirth located in Hallu Sarai, other pilgrimage sites and wells in Sambhal Municipal Area will also be beautified under this scheme. DM told that the old form of the pilgrimage sites will be restored.
