Lucknow, January 13: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended hearty greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on Makar Sankranti and Khichdi festival.
In a greeting message issued here on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi said that the special festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated in different forms in different parts of the country. This festival is a symbol of the rich heritage and cultural unity of our country. This year Makar Sankranti is also very important because on this festival the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh Prayagraj-2025 is going to be completed.
It is known that Makar Sankranti is celebrated in different forms all over India. In various states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, it is celebrated as Khichdi festival. On this day, the Sun enters Capricorn from Sagittarius and becomes Uttarayan. Uttarayan is considered a symbol of positivity.
The change in the zodiac sign of the Sun God on Makar Sankranti is indicative of moving from darkness to light. It is well known that more light increases the consciousness and working capacity of living beings. Therefore, on this occasion, people across India worship the Sun God in various forms.
