Lucknow, 28 February: Yogi government, which is trying to solve all the problems of pensioners including timely payment of pension without any hassle, has inaugurated the new building of Pension Directorate to make the services provided to pensioners more convenient.

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna inaugurated the new building of the Pension Directorate in the Financial Management Training and Research Institute campus in Indira Nagar, Lucknow.

On this occasion, the Finance Minister said that the pension of pensioners should be settled on time, this should be our priority. Whatever may be the reason, pensioners should not face any kind of problem.

Addressing the employees working in the directorate, he said that we have got the opportunity to serve the elderly. These pensioners are people among us. It is your duty to serve them.

Addressing all the treasuries, the Finance Minister said that we have to create such a mechanism that there is no error in the pension given to pensioners or their dependents. Arrangements will have to be made to ensure that they get the stipulated amount on time. We have to avoid things like recovery later on its wrong disposal.

It is noteworthy that Pension Directorate was established on June 2, 1988 to get the pension cases of government servants settled from the state of Uttar Pradesh instead of the Accountant General’s Office. Till now this Directorate was functional on the eighth floor of Indira Bhavan, but due to lack of sufficient space for the custody of necessary files and records, it has been shifted to the Financial Management Training and Research Institute premises. This administrative building has been renovated by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

At present, the pension cases of Group A category officers, members of various commissions and employees of agricultural universities and technical colleges including Khadi Board are being settled at the directorate level. Besides, in case of death of personnel covered under the National Pension System while serving, there is a provision to sanction family pension to their dependents on the basis of their option. Till now, pension cases of more than 81 thousand personnel have been resolved at the level of Pension Directorate. At present, action is being taken to issue online pension authorization letter through e-pension system.
