Lucknow, July 23: After the formation of 18 new nagar panchayats and expansion of 20 bodies, the Yogi government is now going to increase the scope of development authorities.

Hence, in the first phase, preparations are being made to expand the boundaries of Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and other development authorities.

Following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an action plan is being prepared in this regard at the government level.

The intention of the Chief Minister behind this exercise of border expansion is to eliminate the difficulties of unplanned development. In fact, the lack of public facilities in the arbitrarily settled colonies in the cities is causing a big problem. If there is a problem of encroachment in unplanned colonies, then due to lack of any concrete action plan for sewerage, access to drinking water, waste management, repair of roads, common people are forced to live a hellish life here. Not only has this, the arbitrarily built houses in these colonies also been the cause of big troubles after a time.

In recent times, the Chief Minister has also expressed his commitment to end the problem of unplanned development at several forums.

Recently, while reviewing the Urban Development and Housing Department, the Chief Minister had called for a permanent solution to the problem of unplanned development of cities.

The Chief Minister directed that the development authorities, urban bodies, local administration and police should ensure that illegal settlements, residential colonies do not settle anywhere under any circumstances.

Emphasizing on urbanization for holistic development, the Chief Minister had given instructions for expanding the boundaries of various municipalities, municipal corporations and nagar panchayats.

In this sequence, now the exercise of expanding the geographical boundary of the development authorities is to be done. With the expansion of the border, there will be availability of urban facilities in the residential areas, but the income of the authorities will also increase.

There is a preparation to extend the limits of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to the areas of Lucknow bordering Barabanki, Unnao and Sitapur districts, then preparations are on to include PPganj, Pipraich, Kauri Ram etc. areas in Gorakhpur district in the Gorakhpur Development Authority.

Emphasizing on planned development, the Chief Minister has also directed for deployment of town planners in every development authority and urban body. The Chief Minister has said that the cooperation of IITs or technical educational institutions run by the state government should also be taken in urban planning.
