Lucknow, 02 November: Yogi government is working on a plan to provide hot cooked food to children aged three to six years at Anganwadi centres.

The state government may decide to have a uniform menu on the lines of the mid-day meal scheme.

According to the proposal, the same food will be served to the children during the week which is served to the children in primary schools in the mid-day meal.

This proposal was recently put forward in the meeting of the state level task force related to Hot Cooked Meal Scheme under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.

After the decision of the task force, the final decision will be taken by the Chief Minister Yogi.

In this meeting, the Chief Secretary directed that under PM Nutrition in the co-located Anganwadi centres, hot cooked food should be prepared and made available to the children by the cooks in the kitchens located near the primary and upper primary schools. Anganwadi centers located within a radius of two hundred meters should be linked to the nearest primary school.

CS directed that the responsibility of delivering the prepared cooked meal to the Anganwadi center and distributing and serving it to the children should be given to the Anganwadi assistants. If there are two schools within a radius of two hundred meters, priority should be given to the primary and upper primary schools located nearby.

About 65 percent of Anganwadi centers in the state are located in the premises of primary and upper primary schools. In such a situation, food has to be cooked in the kitchens of these schools only. Therefore, it is proposed to keep the menu similar to PM Nutrition Scheme (Mid Day Meal).

The menu on Monday will include roti, seasonal vegetables based on soybean and fresh seasonal fruits. On Tuesday, dal with rice and vegetables will be served, on Wednesday, tahari with seasonal vegetables and soybeans, on Thursday, dal with roti and vegetables, on Friday, tahari with seasonal vegetables and soybeans and on Saturday, dal with rice and vegetables.

Millets will be given preference in hot cooked food.
