Lucknow, 15 Nov: Yogi government is promoting digital learning in Uttar Pradesh. Infrastructure for digital learning is being improved on a large scale in council schools, composite and Kasturba Gandhi schools.
Along with smart class setup in these schools, an ICT lab is being established at each development block (880) level of the state. Apart from this, smart classes are being established through CSR, community participation and other means.
Apart from this, tablets are also being provided to the teachers of council primary schools. Not only this, there is a plan to enrich and enhance the knowledge of teachers as well as children through online sessions and streaming of experts from reputed institutions.
According to a spokesperson of the state government, action will be taken regarding classroom teaching through digital resources. There are preparations to be made. For classroom teaching, educational contents are being prepared by getting the contents evaluated by the subject experts of State Educational Research and Training Council, Uttar Pradesh as per the syllabus of all the subjects from class 1 to 8.
He further stated that the use of distance education can be promoted through live streaming software like YouTube Live, Zoom session, webinar through tablets, ICT lab and smart classes. Through these digital mediums, along with enhancing the capacity of teachers, the knowledge of children can be enhanced through online sessions and streaming by experts from renowned and excellent institutions in the field of education.
“Through ICT Lab, children will be given practice in basic computer operations under the supervision of teachers and instructors (computer education). With the use of learning management software, digital contents and virtual lab, children will be able to understand the basic concepts related to all subjects through practice,” he apprised.
The spokesperson said that for the use of the ICT Lab being set up at the development block and school level, the roster of 14 children each from classes 6 to 8 of the BRC campus school and the nearby school will be prepared in such a way that all the children will be able to use it every day. Appropriate opportunities for practice should be available.
He told contents related to 82 text books for classes 1-8 have been made available through Diksha app, in which this content can be used by teachers and children by scanning the QR codes available in the textbooks. Videos of about 7300 contents have also been made available on Diksha App by the Basic Education Department and NCERT. Classroom teaching will be conducted by teachers using all these contents and videos available on Diksha app regularly through smart class.
Important courses will be available in pocket booklets: According to the government spokesperson, with the aim of promoting digital learning in the state, pocket booklets have been provided to all teachers from classes 6 to 8 and student pocket booklets have been provided to students. Teachers can access the important courses given in the pocket booklet and join the training course by scanning the QR with the device’s HD cam. Teachers will educate children daily by scanning the QR related to Mathematics, Science, Hindi and English subjects given in the student pocket booklet.
He said that in order to provide additional digital teaching material to teachers through Diksha App, educational content is being made available through various development partners like Khan Academy, MBibe Institute, Teachers App Read Along App etc., so that classroom teaching can be improved.
