Lucknow, 06 January: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is serious about the accidents caused by illegally constructed cuts on national highways. The government has given strict instructions to stop these illegal cuts immediately.
Besides, officials have also been asked to monitor such illegal cuts on National Highways from time to time, so that illegal cuts are not constructed again.
It is noteworthy that due to these illegal cuts on national highways, there is a risk of major accidents. Many times school vehicles also become victims of accidents and there is a possibility of major accidents.
In such a situation, Yogi government has taken cognizance of this and issued an order. Through this initiative, the Yogi government aims to fulfill its resolve to reduce road accidents and deaths.
Legislative Committee had expressed concern.
Principal Secretary L Venkateswara Lu has issued guidelines to all the District Magistrates (DMs) of the state regarding closure of illegal cuts on National Highways. He has said in his order that in the meeting of the Implicit Legislation Committee of the State Legislative Assembly on November 20, 2023, consideration will be given to amending the Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicle Rules for the operation of school vehicles to ensure the safety of school children of the state. There was discussion.
He said in this sequence, the committee expressed serious concern over the excessive road accidents occurring due to illegally constructed cuts on the national highways in the state and is expected to direct the concerned departments and officials to close them immediately.
He said that to prevent such accidents, it is very important to stop such illegal cuts. In such a situation, all the District Magistrates of the state have been instructed to give effective orders to the concerned to immediately close the illegally constructed cuts on the national highways falling under their district.
Monitoring is necessary from time to time.
The Chief Secretary has also said in his order that after closing such illegal cuts, it is also very important to see that these illegal cuts should not be started again later. In such a situation, all the District Magistrates have been asked to ensure that from time to time they monitor and review at their level the illegally constructed cuts on the National Highways. If any illegal cut starts again, it should be stopped immediately and effective action should be ensured by fixing responsibility.
