Lucknow, 5 Aug: As part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, the Uttar Pradesh government will felicitate 75 sanitation workers and pay respect to the state’s heroes.
A special cleanliness drive will also be held on the eve of Independence Day, according to a government announcement. A small marathon will also be organised for the youth, giving this campaign a special character.
“The main programme of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign will begin on August 9th, Revolution Day. Representatives and officials from Gram Panchayats and Nagar Panchayats will meet to finalise the site for the program’s effective implementation,” according to the statement.
Furthermore, soil collection via the Amrit Kalash will be accompanied with a ceremonial commitment. Schools and educational institutions will perform patriotic anthems, while local artists will organise cultural events based on patriotism and culture, according to the announcement.
The Yogi government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is focussing on organising numerous cleanliness-related events as part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program.
“On August 10, a cleanliness campaign will be held at sites associated with the freedom struggle and martyrs’ memorials. On the evening of Independence Day, 75 sanitation employees engaged with cleanliness would be awarded at the gram panchayat, nagar panchayat, and civic body levels. A special cleanliness drive will also be organised on the same day,” according to the announcement.
