Lucknow, 20 Sept: According to sources, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to lay the groundwork for the new state Assembly building on the birth anniversary of late former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The new assembly facility will be built to replace the present one, which was built in 1928.
According to the UP government, the new edifice would be built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore by combining the premises of Lucknow’s Darul-shafa and the surrounding territories.
The new building will be finished before 2027, allowing at least one session of the existing state Assembly to take place in the new facility.
Officials emphasized the necessity for a new assembly building, stating that after the delimitation process is completed, the present assembly building will not have enough capacity to host the new MLAs.
Notably, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha both relocated to the new Parliament building on Tuesday.
