Bijnor, 1 Aug: On the same day that two people, including a young child, were electrocuted and over a dozen others were burned after a ‘tazia’ came into touch with a high-tension wire during a Muharram procession in UP’s Amroha, chief minister Yogi Adityanath fired the superintendent of police on Sunday late at night.

SP Aditya Langeh has been appointed as SP (railway), Agra, and Kunwar Anupam Singh as the new SP. SHO of Didauli police station, PK Chauhan, was suspended for “dereliction of duty” on Sunday evening.

The police charged march organiser Ehsaan Malik with IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 324 (voluntarily inflicting harm by hazardous weapons or methods), and 188 (deliberate disobedience of order properly proclaimed by public servant). Malik was detained on Monday night.

On Saturday, Mohd Uwais (13) and Shane Alam (35) were slain in an incident at Patei Khalsa village. According to officials, according to administration standards, “the ‘tazia’ should not have been more than 12ft high, but it was 35ft high, which led to the tragedy.”

Rajesh Kumar Tyagi, the district magistrate of Amroha, has ordered an investigation into the case.

Following the catastrophe, lawmakers rushed to express their sympathies to the families. Danish Ali, prominent leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party and member of parliament (Amroha), and Azam Khan, major leader of the Samajwadi Party, were among them.
