Lucknow, 12 May: Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, attended a special screening of the Adah Sharma film ‘The Kerala Story’ with his whole cabinet on Friday. At 11.30 a.m., a special screening of the film was held at Lok Bhavan Auditorium.
On Wednesday, the makers of The Kerala Story met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. Members of the team, which included producer Vipul Shah, actress Adah Sharma, and director Sudipto Sen, discussed the film with Adityanath and asked him to see it. During their meeting with the chief minister, the film team praised the Adityanath government’s efforts to end ‘love jihad’ and forced religious conversion in the state by implementing the Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020.
The meeting with the film team took place just one day after the Uttar Pradesh government declared The Kerala Story tax-free. The Madhya Pradesh government, like the Uttar Pradesh government, proclaimed the film tax-free, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came out in favour of the film.
The plot of The Kerala Story centres around the conversion of young Hindu women in Kerala and their recruitment by the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS). The film, which aired on May 5, has sparked political outrage, with rival parties accusing it of inciting hatred. Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani star in the key roles.
