Varanasi, 21 November: An encounter took place in Baragaon area in Varanasi on Monday morning between the miscreants who had shot sub-inspector Ajay Yadav and robbed a pistol in Rohaniya area and the Varanasi Commissionerate police.
In the early hours of the encounter on the side of the Ring Road, there was fierce firing between the police and the miscreants. Two miscreants were killed in the encounter, while the third managed to escape from the spot.
Uttar Pradesh DGP DS Chauhan has announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to the encounter team for carrying out the brave task. He said as part of our strategy, we did not allow them to leave Varanasi. The looted pistol of our inspector has been recovered. A country made pistol has also been recovered from the slain miscreants. Varanasi Police Commissioner and his team have done an excellent job.
Police have recovered one 9 mm pistol and one 32 bore pistol, bike, mobile phone and necessary documents from the miscreants. A few days ago, miscreants had looted the pistol of inspector Ajay Kumar posted at Laksha police station. Since then the police had been looking for the miscreants.
Crime Branch and Baragaon Police received information that the miscreants were near Ring Road. The police team laid a trap. During this, the miscreants fired several rounds on the team. In which constable Shiv Babu of crime branch was injured. In retaliatory action, two miscreants were also shot and injured. The miscreants were taken to the hospital for treatment. Both were declared brought dead here.
According to Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh, field units and other officers were dispatched to the spot. The 9 mm pistol recovered from the possession of the miscreants turned out to be of the sub-inspector. On November 9, three miscreants shot the sub-inspector posted at Laksha police station and ran away after looting the pistol.
Both the miscreants killed in the police encounter are real brothers, while the third one who ran away after dodging past the police is his third brother. All three were experts in carrying out incidents of murder and robbery. The miscreants were identified as Rajneesh Singh and Manish Singh, residents of Golwa under Mohaddinagar police station in Samastipur district of Bihar. His third brother Lallan is beyond police reach.
UP DGP DS Chauhan said, “Our brave sub-inspector Ajay Yadav was shot and killed in an encounter who robbed his service pistol. We had launched Operation Paatal Lok for those miscreants. We had decided that we will find those miscreants even from the Hades. Both the slain miscreants are residents of Samastipur Bihar. Both were real brothers. These three miscreants had escaped from judicial custody in Bihar. They had killed two policemen in Bihar. Government weapons of three policemen were looted in Bihar. Five civilians were also killed during the two bank robberies.”
