Lucknow, 28 March: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the importance of a single vote on Thursday, saying it had the potential to change the country’s fate.

Addressing a conference of intellectuals organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Muzaffarnagar district, the chief minister stated that when this one vote fell into the wrong hands, an atmosphere of anarchy was created in western Uttar Pradesh, but when the saffron party secured that one vote, it restored faith.

Hitting back at the opposition, the BJP leader stated, “You will see how much your one vote is worth. How can a single vote impact a country’s destiny” When one of your votes fell into the wrong hands, a curfew was established in Muzaffarnagar for months. When your one vote goes to the right destination, Muzaffarnagar is now renowned for the Kavad Yatra rather than curfews.”

“If your one vote falls into the wrong hands, the security of not just Muzaffarnagar, but all of western Uttar Pradesh, would be jeopardized. If your one vote goes to the proper political party, chaos will cease and faith will be respected,” he continued.

Regarding Holi being performed at the newly-constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya, Adityanath stated, “I used to listen to a Holi song for years – ‘Holi Khele Raghuveera Awadh Ma’ – but every year, we felt sad that Lord Ram is invoked to play Holi but the Lord is not present in his birthplace in Ayodhya. After 500 years, your one vote has shown respect for your beliefs.”

He asked if the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Congress would have been able to construct the Ram temple, and stated, “Today, Lord Ram is seated in Ram Janmabhoomi. Could prior governments have done this work” They imposed curfews, chaos, toyed with religion, and jeopardized the safety of daughters and businesspeople… Today, we are adjusting to a new environment.”

The chief minister stated that if that one vote went to the wrong location, there was extortion, but when it went to the proper hands, to the correct party, the extortion stopped. Adityanath requested that academics inform the public that the BJP prioritizes the country over the family, whilst the opposition prioritizes the family.

“They (the opposition) do not forget to mention caste during polls, whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about the poor’s welfare. This distinguishes Modiji from other leaders,” he continued.

Adityanah further stated that former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh should have received the Bharat Ratna much earlier, but it was not on the agenda of past administrations. What does the INDI alliance do? They held power from 2004 to 2014. They should have honored Chaudhary sahab, but Modiji did so,” he remarked.
